Identify the entrance and its exposure
Tell us whether the door opens onto an internal landing, a sheltered entrance or directly outdoors. Share location, photographs, rain and sun exposure, any coastal conditions and project requirements. Leaf, frame, threshold, seals and finish must be considered together. Steel construction alone does not establish suitability for every weather, thermal, acoustic or security requirement.
Specify the complete assembly
Provide opening dimensions, wall construction, handing, single or double leaf requirements and any fixed side or over-panels. Define finish, locking arrangement, handles and access needs. If glazing is requested, its composition and connections must be assessed within the complete assembly. A technical sheet for a different model cannot substantiate the configuration being offered.
Match the order to the right evidence
Agree the exact model or product reference, specification and required performance documents before ordering. Fire resistance, burglary resistance, thermal insulation and acoustic performance are separate properties; the number of locks does not establish all of them. Relevant declarations, classifications and fitting instructions must match the product and current revision. Identify who approves the proposed solution for the project.
Plan replacement, fitting and support
The proposal identifies final measurement, removal, preparation, waste and making-good responsibilities. In occupied buildings, discuss access, protection and work sequence before agreeing dates. At handover, check opening, closing, locking and the agreed finish, and record outstanding work. Product and workmanship warranties are defined separately; retain order and product details for aftercare.
Global expertise, supply shaped around your project
We assess the nearest suitable region alongside technical capability, product specification, quality, capacity and your programme. The supply or manufacturing location, site support and logistics responsibilities are confirmed in the proposal. Distance is one consideration within a coordinated project decision.
We stand behind our work
We stand behind the building materials and furniture we supply and the installation work we carry out. Warranty coverage, duration, start date and conditions are specified for each product and work package in the quotation and contract.
Product and installation warranties are defined separately. For support, contact info@mpandoglobal.com with the order or project reference, affected item, delivery date and a description of the issue. Applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
Work through the details before you order
Does a steel security door automatically have a fire rating?
No. Steel describes a material; security, fire, smoke, acoustic and thermal performance are separate characteristics. Any required performance must be supported for the particular door assembly and its permitted installation. Tell MFABER what the opening is used for and which requirements the project team has specified, so the proposed product and documents can be checked before ordering.
What is included in the door assembly?
Ask for the leaf, frame, hinges, lock and cylinder, handles, seals, threshold, finish and fixing requirements to be listed. Side panels, glazing, access-control hardware, removal of the existing door and installation may be separate items. A steel leaf does not necessarily mean a steel frame; the actual construction and included components should be explicit in the offer.
How should I compare the insulation of steel entrance doors?
Compare information for the complete proposed doorset, including its size, frame, glazing, seals and threshold. A steel surface or a description such as insulated does not establish one performance level for every configuration. Ask which thermal value and supporting document apply to your chosen assembly, and distinguish insulation from security or fire performance. MFABER can include the requested specification and fitting details in the project enquiry.
Should I give the structural opening, frame size or clear opening for a steel door quotation?
Label each measurement rather than treating them as interchangeable. The structural opening is the space in the building; the overall frame size is the size of the proposed frame; the clear opening is the usable passage when the door is open. Share a sketch, wall construction, finished floor level and any required clear passage. Do not deduct an assumed fitting allowance from your measurements: the selected doorset and installation detail determine the allowance. MFABER records which dimensions are preliminary and who confirms the final survey before the order is released.
How can I request several steel doors for the same building without mixing up the specifications?
Use a door schedule with a separate reference for each opening. Include location, quantity, dimensions, handing, wall construction, finish and the required hardware. Identify which openings need particular fire, security, acoustic or thermal evidence, and attach the latest drawings with their revision. For access control, identify the responsible specialist and the requested hardware before finalising the doorset. MFABER can assess the schedule for a project quotation, separating supply, survey, installation and associated work; a common appearance does not make every opening the same specification.
Can a steel entrance door be fitted with a smart lock or keypad?
Compatibility depends on the selected door and locking system. Include the door reference, existing lock and cylinder details, photographs of both sides and your preferred entry method in the enquiry. Fitting space, power or battery requirements, connectivity and access during a power failure need to be considered together. The MFABER proposal should identify hardware, fitting, commissioning and support responsibilities. Do not assume that every smart lock will fit or that an alteration leaves the existing performance evidence and warranty terms unchanged.
