Describe the location and exposure
Does the door open to an interior corridor, a covered entrance or directly outside? Share the project location, photos, sun and rain exposure, coastal conditions if relevant, and project requirements. The slab, frame, threshold, weatherstripping and finish must work as a specified assembly. A steel skin alone does not establish weather suitability or a fire, security, sound or energy-performance rating.
Define the full entry-door package
Provide opening dimensions, wall construction, swing direction and whether sidelights, a transom or double doors are requested. Identify finish, lockset, handles and access needs. Glass and its surrounding components must be evaluated as part of the proposed assembly. Product sheets for another model or configuration are not substitutes for documentation of the actual order.
Confirm product identification and documents
Request the exact reference and any documents needed for the project before ordering. Security, fire, thermal and acoustic properties are separate; one characteristic does not prove the others. Relevant declarations, classifications and installation instructions must match the supplied configuration and revision. Any required project approval should be assigned explicitly; no approval is implied by a generic product-category description.
Agree replacement work and aftercare
Separate final measurement, delivery, removal, disposal, opening repairs, finishing and installation in the quote. For an occupied property, plan access and protection along with the work sequence. Review operation, locking and appearance at completion and record remaining items. Product and installation warranty terms apply to the agreed order and work; keep product identification and the order reference for support.
Global expertise, supply shaped around your project
We assess the nearest suitable region alongside technical capability, product specification, quality, capacity and your schedule. The supply or manufacturing location, site support and logistics responsibilities are confirmed in the proposal. Distance is one consideration within a coordinated project decision.
We stand behind our work
We stand behind the building materials and furniture we supply and the installation work we carry out. Warranty coverage, duration, start date and conditions are specified for each product and work package in the quotation and contract.
Product and installation warranties are defined separately. For support, contact info@mpandoglobal.com with the order or project reference, affected item, delivery date and a description of the issue. Applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
Work through the details before you order
Can a steel entry door use the existing frame?
Sometimes the existing opening can be retained, but this depends on its condition, dimensions, anchorage and compatibility with the selected system. Send photos of both sides, the threshold and the surrounding wall. The proposal should state whether the frame stays, is repaired or is replaced, and identify any trim or finishing work. A retrofit claim for another manufacturer's system does not establish suitability for your opening.
Does a steel door automatically provide a fire or security rating?
No. Steel construction alone does not establish a tested rating for the complete opening. If the project requires fire, security, impact or other performance, provide the specification and location. The selected door, frame, hardware and installation details must be checked against the applicable product documentation. We do not assign one rating to every steel entry door.
What information matters for a door exposed to coastal or severe weather?
Describe the location, direct exposure, shelter, surrounding wall and any project-specified performance requirements. The review may need to address finish, corrosion exposure, weather seals, threshold and documented wind or impact performance. Suitable products and installation details must be confirmed for the actual opening. A general category page is not a statement that every model is approved for every location.
Can I include sidelights, glazing and upgraded locks?
These options can be evaluated as part of the entrance design. Share a drawing or reference image, opening dimensions, preferred glazing and hardware needs. Changes to glass, frame or hardware can affect the complete assembly and its supporting documentation. The agreed configuration, availability, dimensions and installation scope are confirmed before ordering.
What is included when replacing an entry door?
Clarify the door and frame, threshold, hinges, lockset, weather seals, delivery and installation. Removal, disposal, repairs to the opening, interior or exterior trim and painting should be listed when included. Tell us about building access and any property-management requirements. MFABER coordinates suitable regional resources and states the agreed work, responsibilities and schedule in the proposal.
How do I arrange aftercare for a supplied or installed door?
Keep the order reference, selected product details, delivery or installation date and maintenance instructions. Contact info@mpandoglobal.com with a description and photos if an issue occurs. Product and installation responsibilities are assessed against the written terms for your project. Warranty scope and duration vary by product and work; they are not replaced by a generic lifetime claim.
What energy-performance information should I request for a steel entry door?
Ask for performance information that matches the complete door and glass configuration being quoted. U-factor describes heat transfer; for glazed options, solar heat gain information may also matter. Share the project location, exposure and any requirements supplied by your project team. MFABER will identify the documentation to be confirmed for the selected assembly. A general steel-door description does not establish ENERGY STAR qualification or another certification for every option.
Is a residential steel entry door the same as a commercial hollow-metal door package?
No. Start with the building use and the opening, not just the word steel. A residential entry system and a commercial hollow-metal package can have different frame construction, hardware preparations, use requirements and supporting documentation. Tell MFABER whether the request concerns a house, apartment entry, common area, service room or another opening, and share the project specification. The proposed assembly is evaluated for that application; a residential product description does not establish suitability for a commercial or rated opening.
What should a steel door schedule include for a comparable project quote?
Give each opening a door number and identify its location, quantity, size, swing, wall type, frame, finish and hardware set. State units explicitly and distinguish nominal door size, actual frame dimensions and the required clear opening. For replacements, add the existing manufacturer's reference and hinge and lock preparation details where available; matching width and height alone does not establish compatibility. Attach the current drawing revision and required performance documents. MFABER separates the proposed materials, field verification, delivery and installation scope so you can review equivalent packages before approving an order.
Can I add a smart lock or keypad to a steel entry door?
Start with the specific door and lock, not just the steel description. Share the door reference, existing lock or cylinder information, photos of both sides and the entry method you want. The review should cover mounting space, power or batteries, connectivity and backup access if power is lost. Hardware, installation, setup and ongoing support need separate confirmation in the MFABER proposal. Compatibility and the effect of any modification on the door’s documented performance and warranty must be checked for that configuration.
